Biography - Issy Groves
Hello, my name is Issy, and I am a student born and raised in Canada. I have two cats and a dog. I am of French and German descent, and plan to learn both languages in the near future.
I enjoy creating. I am in an art program called the VAM (Visual Arts and Media) academy that I thoroughly enjoy. Through this program I have learned to experiment with different mediums, manage my time, and use logic and aesthetic/design properties to make my art make sense and grow. As of now, I prefer digital drawing and acrylic painting, though photography and design can be fun as well.
Throughout my life, I have always gravitated to the arts. I'm a theatre kid, I dance, I write, and I consider myself an amateur artist. A jack-of-all-trades, if you will. Every time I look back on my life, I can remember a flash of a doodle, drawing, or painting (even some negative memories). Art has fascinated me since I was little.
I am obsessed with art inspired by fiction and mythology, especially those of Roman, Greek, and classical European descent. My favourite painting is Ophelia, by Sir John Everett Millais (1851). Now knowing the context of Hamlet, this painting has a whole new sorrowful, beautiful and deeper meaning to me. Don't get me wrong, it is a very gorgeous painting, but the background information makes it more than just a piece of art to me.
I would love to become a well-known artist in my area and has my art be a side hustle or even my full-time job. If that doesn't pan out, I'm planning on being an English or Art teacher. I has sold several commissions recently, and am hoping to sell more soon. It's a real confidence boost!
